60km – Vibram® Lollo Max…i Trail Mottarone

Track

Why Lollo Max…i Trail?

On the occasion of the Vibram Trail Mottarone 2026, exactly two years will have passed since the passing of Lollo, Max’s faithful little dog.

“They were 15 years of adventures, trail maintenance, various markings and countless unforgettable moments. He was and will always remain a faithful life companion. How could I not dedicate a distance to him on his Mottarone trails?”

Trail running race of 57 km with 4.100 meters of positive elevation gain, developed on the trails of the Mottarone Massif, through alpine pastures, forests, and panoramic sections overlooking Lake Maggiore.

The start is scheduled at 7:00 a.m. from Stresa, at the Palazzo dei Congressi. After a short stretch along the lakeside, the course quickly enters the inland area, passing through Carciano and Someraro, then climbing towards Agriturismo L’Ordin and 13 Betulle, the first elevation reference of the race.

The route continues towards Alpe Vedabia, where at kilometer 10 a refreshment point is located and the Anello del Camoscio begins, a more technical section reaching Alpe Camoscio before returning again to Vedabia. The course then continues towards Alpe Nuovo CAI Baveno (km 20), location of the second refreshment point.

After passing Alpe La Colma, the route reaches Granerolo, a checkpoint, and continues through Alpe La Selva and Alpe Bertogna, where drinking water is available from a fountain. The course then arrives at Alpe Mastrolino, location of a refreshment point and the first time barrier, set at 7 hours of race time (3:00 p.m.).

The second part of the race crosses a long sequence of alpine pastures: Alpe del Barba, Tre Alberi, Alpe Verminasca and Alpe Cortano, both with water fountains, followed by Alpe La Gioga and Alpe Vallaccia. From here begins the final climb towards the summit of Mottarone.

At km 45, at the summit, there is a checkpoint, a full refreshment point, and the second time barrier, set at 10 hours of race time (5:00 p.m.). Once the time barrier is respected, the course continues downhill through Alpe Giardino, the Old Borromeo Station, and Alpe Canà.

The final kilometers bring runners back to 13 Betulle, where a water refreshment point is available, before descending towards Agriturismo L’Ordin, Someraro, Carciano, and finally Stresa, with the finish at the Palazzo dei Congressi.

The maximum race time is 13 hours, with finish by 8:00 p.m..
